Working from a theme of simple elegance, the bride dressed the wedding party in blue and gray, with decor featuring white on white, accented with splashes of green in the bouquets and various floral arrangements.Read More
The other day, I was asked to share an unanticipated aspect of losing a parent, “something they never tell you.” The subject hit me odd at first. There’s no doubt that endless volumes have been written on losing a loved one. Most of what has been covered for millennia, is about dealing with the emotions of hurt, anger, sadness, fear, depression, anxiety - along with hope, love, and letting go.Read More
Another long summer is coming to an end, and this momma is READY! Don't get me wrong. We've had a lot of fun. There was swim season, concerts, Durham Bulls games, and too much ice cream. There was a trip to the mountains, and a trip to the beach. We went for walks, and hikes, and tried to soak up all the summer sun.Read More
You’d never know it by looking at her now, but Lurin Carlin wasn’t always the most “food conscious”.
About 10 years ago, when she was newly married and spending time with her in-laws, Lurin realized her husband’s family stuck to a pretty “clean” diet. Completely organic, ton of fruits and vegetables. This was a foreign concept to Lurin, and she took a pass on cleaning up her poor diet for a while. Her mother-in-law, however, really encouraged her to cut sugar and processed foods from her daily meals.Read More
I will never forget being 16, riding around with my dad, and the 20 questions he’d ask to try and ferret out what I wanted to “be when I grew up.” It was a humorous conversation because at the time, all I could tell him is what I didn’t want.
Not cut out for the 9-5 - working in an office gives me anxiety - variety : I can’t do the same thing every day and call it a life - travel included, but not too much - I love having a home and my people and my animals close.Read More
I have to admit, when I first began to notice biker shorts making their presence known within the fashion world, I looked the other way, turning a cold shoulder at what seemed like a ridiculous trend. These spandex style shorts have always been meant to support the bums of cyclists. They had no place in the world of street style. Then Kim K. rocked them, and well, the rest is history.Read More

The Triangle area has a vibrant equestrian subculture, however, not many people own Friesians. Friesians originated in the Netherlands. On the evening of June 1st, a new local networking group called Creatives of Carolina, held their first meetup at JC Raulston Arboretum. Invented nearly a century ago by San Francisco-based cosmetics manufacturer, Luis Marcus, bobby pins were created to tame one of the most iconic haircuts of the 1920s, known as the “bob”.
Through the decades, bobby pins have mainly been tucked and hidden within elaborate hairdos, to keep them in place. Though decorative versions of these hairpins have been around for some time, a recent trend is to wear multiple, fancier pins, in geometric formations.Read More
Well, aren’t we all glad that spring finally decided to show up?! For some parts of the country, this winter was brutal…luckily us North Carolinians have it pretty easy. I grew up in Upstate NY, and the winters were no joke. We had snow delays on my college graduation day, which was in early May. But regardless of where you live in the country, I think we are always excited to be able to change our wardrobes over for the new season! With temps warming up nicely, it’s time to start thinking about all the fun rompers, dresses, shorts and tanks, and then of course all the little accessories we can throw into the mix!
