Hustle Fitness Studio: Finding Strength in Community

Getting her start in a small space on Chatham Street, Amanda Dismukes built her business one friend at a time. Now, those friends have become even more.

A #HustleFam, you might say.

“It’s about meeting people where they are in their wellness journey and providing a safe, fun, encouraging environment. Come as you are, and leave feeling better than when you walked in the door. Fostering a community and building relationships is just as important as the workout. Some days a mental break, and laughing, is more important than how fast you ran or what weight you lifted.”

We reached out to a few of the regulars, and here’s what they had to say:

“I’ve never been one who enjoyed classes and group fitness, but Hustle is different. In the past, I felt like Goldilocks going from gym to gym. Sure they had classes, offered group fitness, personal training, giant resort style pools, and free pizza Fridays, but nothing felt “just right”. When I walked into Hustle, I could tell I was walking into something greater. In the other gyms, everyone was there to work independently… get in and get out – wait your turn, get on the machine and move along.

That’s not Hustle…

Hustle is a community.

It’s small enough to engage while working out, but large enough to guarantee you will meet an eclectic group of folks. People who come together for a common goal, who challenge, encourage, and motivate each other to be better. We hold each other accountable and inspire each other in a way that is not only effective, but we truly have a great time while doing it. The instructors push you to really challenge yourself, but you can also work out at your own pace, and not feel judged.”

“After 20 years of sitting on the couch drinking beer, I came to Hustle not knowing a TRX from a DMX, and within a short time, lost inches off my waist and gained a new appreciation for hip-hop. There's encouragement and friendship from the members. Everyone's there to better themselves, and they are welcoming to others who wish to go on the same journey. Hustle isn't a chain or a mega gym. This is a locally owned small business, imbued with the owner’s infectiously, endearing personality.”
