On the evening of June 1st, a new local networking group called Creatives of Carolina, held their first meetup at JC Raulston Arboretum. This inaugural event was open to anyone who considers themselves a “creative,” or simply curious about the group. The meetup attracted approximately 75 local creatives and was considered a huge success by the organizers.

Invented nearly a century ago by San Francisco-based cosmetics manufacturer, Luis Marcus, bobby pins were created to tame one of the most iconic haircuts of the 1920s, known as the “bob”.
Through the decades, bobby pins have mainly been tucked and hidden within elaborate hairdos, to keep them in place. Though decorative versions of these hairpins have been around for some time, a recent trend is to wear multiple, fancier pins, in geometric formations.

Well, aren’t we all glad that spring finally decided to show up?! For some parts of the country, this winter was brutal…luckily us North Carolinians have it pretty easy. I grew up in Upstate NY, and the winters were no joke. We had snow delays on my college graduation day, which was in early May. But regardless of where you live in the country, I think we are always excited to be able to change our wardrobes over for the new season! With temps warming up nicely, it’s time to start thinking about all the fun rompers, dresses, shorts and tanks, and then of course all the little accessories we can throw into the mix!
